Welcome all parents and children to the start of the Downtown
Soccer League 2010 Fall season. My name is David Rafiy, and I am just one
of the many parents who will be coaching your children this season. The other coaches will be Bill Westcott and Andy Snyder. I do press all parents who
care to have any kind of role to certainly get
involved.
Our
practices will be held Wednesdays between 5:15pm and 6:00pm at the BPC Ballfields. The league in
efforts to reduce any confusion, has dedicated Wednesdays from 3:30 to
6pm as only Division 7‘s time, so there will be much less distraction.
At practices, I ask that at some ponit either the parent or nanny
always lets me know which child they are responsible for. Safety is an
important issue and any child who does not have someone to
escort them off the field will stay with me until parent or caregiver
picks them up.
All games and practices require the following: cleats, shin pads,
water bottle or something to drink, and if you have one bring a soccer
ball. As the children are getting a little older I have more drills
which will require more touches on the ball during practice, so we
could stand to benefit from more then 4 balls.
Games, which also require shin pads and cleats, will be held on
Saturday‘s at either 10:10 am or 11:10am. Please let me know if your child will not attend the game or practice and please arrive 10 to 15 minutes before the start of the game so that we can warm up. Please check the web site for status on whether the fields are open. The season will be a ten game season with one
game being played on a week day.
We need volunteers to bring snacks for the children on game day. Please let me know if you would like to reserve a date and I will update the calender. I also want to point out that our
sponsor again is City Winery, so thank you to them and we will hope
to make you proud.
From our commissioner: "This league to me
and hopefully to all of you is about community, our children, and
enjoyable activities that are a part of all our lives. Winning and
losing is secondary if at that to the enjoyment that I hope all of our
children have in being part of a team with their friends. And if last
year is indicative to this year, I believe they will all have a
wonderful experience."
